PART A) CD GIVEAWAY
I have purchased 5 copies of Brian’s 2nd solo album, Manifold – 1 for me and 4 for this contest. ^^
PURPOSE
To help promote Brian’s 2nd solo album, Manifold, and to show him how much we love him. =D
PRIZES FOR EACH CATEGORY
1st Place: Brian’s 2nd Solo Album, Manifold
* Winners/runners-up will appear in the first two spots in each section of the photobook (PART B of project).
HOW TO ENTER THE CONTEST
There are 4 categories (please see below). When you are ready to submit, e-mail the following information to me:

CONTEST DETAILS
– Deadline for all submissions: Sunday, January 31, 2010 Sunday, February 14, 2010
– The prizes are official Brian Manifold albums (no posters since they didn’t come with the CDs)
– Anyone can enter; no exceptions
– 4 categories: Graphic Art, Traditional Art, Writing, Video
– You can submit for ALL the categories, but only ONCE per category
– Only one prize per person
– All entries must be related to Brian and Manifold in some way
– All entries that do not follow the details outlined below will be disregarded
– Please name your file(s) with your real name and country

THE CATEGORIES
1. Graphic Art
– Fanart done on computer
– Style/Theme has to be Manifold
– Any images of Brian can be used
– Please use good-quality images
– Can be portrait or landscape
– File must be 300 pixels/inch resolution
– Size of graphic must be no larger than 2267 x 1663 pixels (7.5″ x 5.5″) and no smaller than 1800 x 1200 pixels (6″ x 4″)
* I know this is quite huge for graphics, but it’s because I need to print them later. These are guidelines and you can use any dimensions that fall in between.
– Save the file as: Your Name, Country
– Upload file to: imageshack.us
– Fill out the entry form above and e-mail me the direct link to your file
– Formats accepted: JPG, PNG, PDF
2. Traditional Art
– Fanart done by hand; can be drawn, painted, etc.
– Style/Theme has to be Manifold
– No graphic manipulation allowed
– Can be portrait or landscape
– Use a full size white page for your artwork (e.g., 8 1/2″ x 11″ or A4 paper)
– Scan at 300dpi resolution
– Save the file as: Your Name, Country
– Upload file to: imageshack.us
– Fill out the entry form above and e-mail me the direct link to your file
– Formats accepted: JPG, PNG, PDF
3. Writing – Lyrics / Short Stories / Poetry
>> Lyrics
– Write lyrics to any of the songs on Brian’s 2nd Solo Album, Manifold
– All lyrics must be in English
– Lyrics can be to the full song or a selected part
* If writing only a selected part, you must clearly indicate which part by listing the time of the segment in the song (e.g., 1:35-2:46)
* Full lyrics will be more favoured than part lyrics when judging
– Parody lyrics are welcomed
– If submitting a song that Brian has already sung an English version of (namely tracks 11-13 & the respective tracks 8, 10, 7), the lyrics must be completely DIFFERENT from the original with the exception of the parts that were in English to begin with in the Korean version of the songs
>> Short Stories / Poetry
– Write a short story / poem that relates to any of the songs on Brian’s 2nd Solo Album, Manifold
– All short stories / poems must be in English
– Keep the short story / poem to ONE page typed, single-spaced, size 12 font
– If there is any extra information that you want to include, such as why you picked the song or what inspired you to write the lyrics/short story/poem, please feel free to do so =)
– Any submissions deemed to be plagiarizing someone else’s work will be disqualified
– Save the file as: Your Name, Country
– Fill out the entry form above and e-mail me the file as an attachment
– Formats accepted: TXT (Notepad), DOC (Microsoft Word)
4. Video
– Record a video of you performing any of the songs on Brian’s 2nd Solo Album, Manifold
– You can sing, dance, play an instrument, or even do a parody of the “My Girl” music video
* If you’re performing an English cover that you have written, please include the lyrics
* If you’re doing something related to the “My Girl” music video, please ensure it is tasteful and appropriate (i.e., rated PG-13)
– If you are camera-shy, please use appropriate still image(s) for your video
– Ensure your video is good quality by filming at the highest resolution possible
– Save the file as: Your Name, Country
– Upload file to: megaupload.com or mediafire.com AND YouTube
* Please do not make your YouTube video private because there is a limit on the number of views
* Please title your YouTube video with: Wacky Cashew’s Brian Manifold CD Giveaway + anything else you want
* Please tag your YouTube video with: Brian, Fly to the Sky, FTTS, Manifold, CD giveaway + anything else you want
– Fill out the entry form above and e-mail me BOTH your original file link AND YouTube link
– Formats accepted: AVI, MPG, WMV
* AVI is preferred as this is the best format to put on DVD
WINNERS/RUNNERS-UP
The names of winners/runners-up will be announced as soon as judging has properly taken place. I will judge all the submissions along with my fellow Cashewmaniakpop helpers. ^^ Thereafter, I will contact all the winners for your address to send you the Manifold album. Prizes will be mailed as soon as possible after I get all the addresses and have a chance to get the necessary packaging materials and go to the post office. You will be notified after your prize has been sent.

PART B) PHOTOBOOK PROJECT
I plan to make a photobook for Brian with all the contest entries and put the videos on DVD. That is why I need high-quality files/scans of the artwork and the original video files. ^^ For the Writing entries, I will pretty up the text to put in the book. =D Winners/runners-up will appear in the first two spots in each section of the book.
In addition, I want to include photos of fans showing their support for Manifold as well as “fighting” messages for Brian.
PURPOSE
To show Brian that we fully support his 2nd solo album, Manifold, by buying it, and to give him encouragement. ^^
HOW TO PARTICIPATE
There are 2 components (please see below). When you are ready to submit, e-mail the following information to me:

– UPDATES: Alternatively, you can submit a digital picture of yourself (or with friends) that you have taken with Brian himself or of Brian at an event that you attended; OR you can make a sign for Brian and take a pic with it
* Picture must belong to you (or your friends); do NOT use a fan-taken photo that does NOT belong to you!!
* Picture can be landscape (horizontal) or portrait (vertical)
* Digital cameras should be 3.5 megapixels or above to ensure that the picture resolution will be good enough for print
– Rename the file as: Your Name, Country
– Upload file to: imageshack.us
– Fill out the entry form above and e-mail me the direct link to your file
– Format accepted: JPG
2. “Fighting” Messages for Brian
– Write a “fighting” (encouraging) message for Brian to show your support for Manifold
– Keep the message to 30 words or less; if limit is exceeded, your message will be edited
– All messages must be in English
– Fill out the entry form above and write the message directly in the e-mail

GENERAL
Q: What timezone does the deadline refer to?
A: Just submit by the end of the day on Sunday, January 31, 2010 Sunday, February 14, 2010 in your own timezone is fine.

CD GIVEAWAY
Q: Can I take a digital picture of my artwork instead of scanning it?
A: No, a digital picture of the artwork will not be as clear as a scan of the artwork itself, and will not look good printed.
Q: Can I scan my artwork at a lower resolution than 300dpi?
A: I prefer at least 300dpi due to print quality. If you must, I will accept 200dpi but nothing lower.
Q: Can I upload my scanned image to another site besides imageshack.us?
A: I prefer imageshack because you can easily obtain the direct link to the image, there is no resizing, and it can handle large file sizes. However, if you feel the need to use another site, it is fine as long as the image does NOT get resized by default (which can happen on some hosting sites) and I can view the image properly.
Q: Can my short story / poem be longer than one page and can I use a smaller size font?
A: No, please adhere to the rules because each entry will just take up one page in the book, and the text needs to be big enough to be legible when printed in the book.
Q: Can I upload my video to another site besides megaupload.com or mediafire.com?
A: I prefer either one of those because they are the fastest for me to download from and I usually don’t have any problems with the files.
Q: How will I know you have received my submission(s)?
A: I will e-mail back every participant who enters to let him/her know that I have received the submission(s). If I have any problems viewing your submission(s), I will inform you.
Q: Can I submit for more than one category?
A: Absolutely! But only ONCE per category. ^^
Q: What does it really mean for the style/theme to be Manifold?
A: Since this album is mostly based on upbeat dance/club songs, this is the style/theme. So, any related thoughts or ideas and emotions can be used (e.g., dark, sexy, sensual, hot, fun, exciting, provocative, intoxicating, mysterious, alluring, groovy, funky, etc.). Also, the black/red or part-coloured/part-black-&-white look that Brian has in the CD pictures.
Q: I’ve already gotten a copy of Manifold, but I’d like to join this contest anyway so my work(s) will be part of the photobook/DVD. Is this ok?
A: Yes, that’s fine. ^^ But in the event that you’re one of the category winners, instead of giving you the Manifold album, maybe we can negotiate a substitute prize. For example, a Brian poster or a suitable Brian-related alternative that I can afford. =P
Q: What happens if the same person is the winner for more than one category?
A: If this happens, then the judges will decide between the runners-up for the particular categories as to who will receive the album.
Q: When will the winners/runners-up be announced?
A: As soon as the judges have had the chance to go over all the submissions thoroughly. Judging may take longer if there are many entries. We also work full-time, so we ask for your patience and understanding. ^^
Q: Will we get to see all the entries after the contest is over?
A: I will try to figure out a way to post all the entries after the contest is over. It might take quite some time to organize though. So again, please be patient. ^^ But I will definitely post at least the entries of the winners/runners-up.

PHOTOBOOK PROJECT
Q: Can I submit more than one picture?
A: No, please just submit one picture. I do not want to be responsible for deciding which picture to use in the end. XD
Q: Do I have to take the picture by myself?
A: No, you can take the picture with friends if you like. =)
Q: Do I have to show my face in the picture?
A: It is preferred so Brian can see you. =P However, if you’re camera-shy, you can hold the album in front of your face or hide yourself in some way when you take the picture. But please ensure that the Manifold album can be clearly seen.
Q: Can I resize the picture and/or touch it up on Photoshop or another photo-editing program?
A: No, please keep the picture in original form. I will do all the resizing, etc. at the end because all the pictures submitted need to be uniform.
Q: Can I use a picture of Brian that I found taken by another fan on some website?
A: NO!! Do NOT use a fan-taken photo that does NOT belong to you!! If you submit one, I will not include it in the photobook.
Q: Can I upload my picture to another site besides imageshack.us?

Q: Can my message for Brian be longer than 30 words?
A: I do not mind 1-2 words over the limit for the sentence to make sense. Please just try to adhere to the limit as much as possible since I’m hoping many fans will submit. If everyone writes an essay, I cannot accommodate all the messages. =P
Q: Do I have to submit for both the Manifold Fan Photo and “Fighting” Message components?
A: Yes, I prefer that you submit for both components.
i. If for some reason, you cannot get the Manifold album yet but wish to participate in the “Fighting” Message component, please e-mail me the message for Brian and provide a brief explanation (e.g., still saving up to buy it, can’t purchase online & waiting for it to be available at local stores, shipping of CD from online site is after the deadline, etc.).
ii. If for some reason, you do not want to include a “Fighting” Message and just want to submit a Manifold Fan Photo, that’s fine.
Q: Can I add some Korean words to my message?
A: Simple Korean words/phrases that I can understand such as saranghae, hwaiting/fighting, jjang, etc. are fine. But no long Korean phrases or sentences allowed. To protect Brian, I will not include anything that I do not understand in case the content is inappropriate/offensive.
Q: I already joined the CD GIVEAWAY, can I still participate in the PHOTOBOOK PROJECT?
A: Yes, definitely!! =D
Q: I didn’t join the CD GIVEAWAY, can I just participate in the PHOTOBOOK PROJECT?
A: Yes, of course!! XD
Q: How will I know you have received my submission?
A: I will e-mail back every participant to let him/her know that I have received the submission. If I have any problems viewing/understanding your submission, I will inform you.
Q: Will we get to see the photobook when it is completed?
A: I will try to take some pictures of the photobook when it’s done. Please don’t expect this to be anytime soon because it will take quite some time to actually do up all the pages of the book. Then, I have to get it printed and shipped to me, etc. But I will provide some shots of the cover and sample pages. I will not zoom in on any of your photos or messages to protect your privacy. Only Brian will see and read everything. XD
Q: How do we know when the photobook has been sent to Brian?
A: I will announce here on my blog once it’s been sent to Brian. I won’t know exactly when till I have finished the book and have it in my hands. =P Once I get it, I will get it packaged and go to the post office as soon as possible. Since the deadline for the project is the end of January has been extended till mid-February, this most likely won’t happen till February or March. Thanks for your patience. ^^

Haha~ Ummm… I guess the word “manifold” itself refers to having many kinds of things. So, I guess the album is a good mix of songs and the different ways he expresses himself? *lol* This album is supposed to represent who he is after all. XD As for the style or concept, Brian seems to have the club vibe going as that’s the main theme. So, anything that you can think of that is related in some way will be fine. =D

i’m taking part in the 3rd category,the lyrics part to be exact,& right now i’m done with them,but i’ve sort of written a summary of the story potrayed in the lyrics & it seems like its taking about 2 pages.
the summary wasn’t that necessary but i thought it’d be better if i include it just for your reference ^^;

Hello! I’m planning on joining this but I’d like to know something first. You’ve pointed out that for the short story it’ is to be ONE page typed, does this mean it has to be a FULL one page story or is a paragraph or two welcomed?

i’m trying to find piano sheet music or guitar chords for the video part of the contest. if i can find a background track that would be great too… i just can’t find any. i’m gonna sing tears run dry, but i would prefer to play it myself and i only have the whole song (as in with brian singing and everything). do you think you could help me with this? o and i was thinking for the dvd, if enough people submit, you could put the entire album on the dvd so it’s almost “our own”. =) thanks for the contest!

No problem at all. Actually, if you’re singing over the original, then just use something like Goldwave to do a vocal cut. That way, Brian’s voice won’t be as obvious if you were singing close to the mic and just using the song as background music. ^^

lol the dream itself was pretty darn interesting if i may say so myself haha. It was just a back view and I guess i saw myself sitting at my dorm desk opening my e-mail and then seeing and e-mail title: “WINNER of WackyCashew Brain – Manifold CD!” LMAO. and then I open to read the content and then weridly POOF! I had the CD in my hands LMAO (yeah i have no idea how the cd got into my hands LMAO -___-) and then i was so happy that i jumped around in my dorm room yelling “OMG OMG OMG OMG!!!” and then i guess that’s when i woke up and realized it was only a dream lol XD. but the next morning i did end up checking my e-mail just in case LMAO. XD.
but eepppp results will be up sometimes this week eh? epppp lol. excited and nervous! lol. XD
